NEMA Webinar: The Transformative Potential of Bi-Directional Power Transfer for Electric Vehicles

WEBINAR DETAILS:

Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 10:00 AM PT

SPEAKERS:

Steve Griffith, Executive Director, Regulatory & Industry Affairs, Mobility, NEMA

Zach Woogen, Executive Director, Vehicle-Grid Integration Council

The upcoming NEMA Webinar on May 12th, will spotlight the transformative potential of Bi-directional Power Transfer for Electric Vehicles. This innovative approach enables EVs to serve not only as transportation but also as valuable generation and storage assets, paving the way for Vehicle to Home (V2H) and Vehicle to Grid (V2G) technologies. These solutions can supply backup power during outages, deliver meaningful cost savings, and help manage peak grid demand—benefiting both homeowners and the broader power system.

During the session, Steve Griffith will highlight NEMA’s new thought leadership project focused on advancing Vehicle to Home technologies, offering fresh perspectives and actionable insights. Steve will be joined by Zach Woogen, Executive Director of the Vehicle-Grid Integration Council (VGIC), who will share highlights from VGIC’s work in this space, which focuses on market development and policy advocacy for utility interconnection, utility rate and program design, and equipment incentives for bidirectional charging equipment. VGIC will also share its recommended guidance for utilities and regulators, including those developed through its Utility Collaboration Forum.

Don’t miss this engaging discussion as we explore how bi-directional power transfer is reshaping the energy landscape!

The webinar is only for NEMA Members and VGIC Members. Reach out to VGIC’s Operations Director, Shannon McGuire (smcguire@vgicouncil.org) for any questions.
