Why Join VGIC?
Energy and electricity policy requires state-by-state advocacy with key state agencies and regulators.
VGIC is that advocate.
EVs and EV supply equipment (EVSE) infrastructure deployment will play a large role in decarbonizing the transportation and electricity sectors. Fueling EVs with clean energy and utilizing V1G and V2G resources present both opportunities and challenges to customers, utilities, automotive OEMs, fleet managers, and EV service providers.
VGI benefits are currently being shaped in regulatory settings, as decisions around allocation of VGI value are being made. For example, the annual financial benefit for an EV in California providing a full suite of grid services could be over $1,000 per EV each year. Managed charging alone could provide hundreds of dollars per EV each year in California due to load-shifting capabilities.
The allocation of these quantifiable benefits is:
by no means guaranteed
as yet to be determined
